Tripin

I was inspired to create a mobile application that minimizes the time a traveler spends on making his/her bookings. I've tried out several apps available in the market and as much as I appreciated their functionalities, I see the opportunity to make them better.

Objective

  • Understand what are the factors that go into making trip planning
  • Simplify both planning & bookings in a single application

Interview & Findings

Objective

The interview was conducted to understand travel habits

Findings

What I found from interviewees was that most travelers prefer to go on a trip with a plan however, due to planning complexity, often go without one.

Ideate & Brainstorm

As interviews had shown planning is preferable, what other possibilities can we throw into the mix to make the planning experience enjoyable?

Persona

To better understand and think like a user, a persona was established. Jenn, a photographer who often travels for work, needs to quickly draft a travel plan to avoid trip hiccups.

Jenn's concerns are often around safety measures in airlines & new cities, especially during the pandemic.

User Journey

I mapped out a route for a mock user with travel goals, and list out as many pain points as possible that she may come across, which lead to a possible opportunity for a new feature.

User Testing

OBJECTIVE:

To get feedbacks from user on how to improve app functionality and efficiency.

TARGET USERS:

  • Travelers who had previous trip booking experiences using apps
  • Users that familiar with digital planning tools or had experiences with mobile planners.

QUESTIONS TO BE ANSWERED:

  • What makes an app attractive, its functionalities or its context?
  • Why is certain app has more users than others?
  • Is there a market for All-in-One app for your travel needs?

User Tasks:

Task 1: Perform an initial sign up

"The sign up was confusing, I ended finishing the task, but because of the repeated steps in opening & signing up, I felt it can be simplify by reducing the number of screens and more direct approach to sign up might be helpful "

Task 2: Plan a trip

" I like the quick preference quiz idea, but there were more questions than I thought, it has became annoying after the 4th question, I just want to jump to the result and the problem was I can't go anywhere unless I finish the quiz or simply exit out. I think 4-5 questions should be efficient, as I'll consider the results as a reference, an inspiration than a sure destination"

Task 3: Make a airfare booking

" Searched and booked was easy, wonder if adding access to boarding pass is possible, because for most of the time I was trying to pull up my pass while on the way to the airport"
